Bleaker’s raw Hype (Funk) riddim from last year on Unknown To The Unknown made us go back to listen to the UK garage track that made the vocal famous back in 1998.

The British garage scene was just hitting its prime in ’98, with 2step rhythms pumping out from pirate stations all over London and attracting a lot of attention in the press. Antonio’s Hyperfunk is still remembered as a classic, spinning an Ultramagnetic MC’s sample around a wriggly synth equal parts menacing and nauseous. The track’s spare construction, particularly building to the first drop, still sounds fresh and dramatic. Garage just doesn’t seem to age.
