There are a number of seriously excellent labels reissuing forgotten gems at the moment and – for our money – Amsterdam’s Music From Memory is the best. The imprint took its name from one of 1980’s New York musician Vito Ricci’s LPs, and last year they put together a fantastic compilation of his music, ‘I Was Crossing A Bridge‘.

One of the most alluring tracks of the album was Getting There, a brief tune buried on the B-side. It may be short, but the rainforest of dense percussion makes for a captivating listen, accompanied by the constant threat of a growling bassline and a tender chime which casts a pale ray of light into the darkness.
